| Title: Elimination of Duplication Between the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank and the National Practitioner Data Bank | |
| Abstract: This rule is required under the Affordable Care Act. The purpose is to eliminate the redundant reporting requirements for two closely related national health care data banks. This rule terminates the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Databank (HIPDB) and transfers all data collected in the HIPDB to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) established pursuant to the Health Care Quality Improvement Act of 1986. This rule will also provides for the disclosure of information, fee collection, establishment of dispute procedures, and an effective date of no later than one year after enactment or when regulations are published. | |
