| Title: Food Standards of Identity Modernization; Pasteurized Orange Juice | |
|
Abstract:
This rule to amend the standard of identity for pasteurized orange juice in 21 CFR 146.140 is in response to a citizen petition submitted on July 22, 2022, by the Florida Citrus Processors Association Inc. and the Florida Citrus Mutual Inc. The rule would reduce the minimum soluble solids requirement for pasteurized orange juice exclusive of the solids from any added optional sweetening ingredients. This rule would aim to mitigate the difficulties encountered by manufactures in meeting the minimum Brix level of 10.5°, which are caused by the impact of citrus greening disease (Huanglongbing) and adverse weather conditions and would align with the make America healthy again priority. |
