Title: ●Control of Communicable Diseases; Foreign Quarantine: Procedures for Temporary Suspension of the Right to Introduce Persons and Property into the United States to Address a Communicable Disease Threat
Abstract:

This proposed rulemaking will provide an updated framework for the CDC Director to exercise statutory authority to temporarily suspend the right to introduce persons and property from designated foreign countries or places, in the interest of U.S. public health due to serious danger of introduction of a communicable disease into the United States. Through this NPRM, HHS/CDC will solicit public comment on proposals designed to clarify which communicable disease threats may trigger use of the authority, establish a process for temporary suspension and ensure transparency and safeguards.
