Title: ●Coverage of Religious Non-Medical Health Care Institutions (HCFA-1909-IFC) 
Abstract: This final rule with comment period implements section 4454 of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, BBA '99 amended section 1861 of the Social Security Act (the Act). Section 4454 of BBA '97 removed all references to Christian Science and Christian sanatoria from the Act and substituted religious nonmedical health care institutions in their place. This change permits any religious organization to apply to be paid for furnishing nonmedical services under Medicare. The rule sets forth minimum requirements and conditions of participation to qualify as a religious nonmedical health care institution for purposes of receiving payment for services furnished under Medicare.
