Title: ●Expedited Reinstatement of Disability Benefits (Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act) (790P)
Abstract: One of SSA's most important initiatives is to assure that Social Security (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries with disabilities who want to work have the opportunity to do so. Individuals with disabilities face multiple barriers in attempting to return to work. Section 112 of Public Law 106-170 provides a new statutory work incentive by providing for expedited reinstatement of SSDI and SSI benefits terminated due to work activity, when the former beneficiary requests reinstatement within 60 months because his or her disability prevents work activity. Section 112 also provides for payment of provisional benefits up to 6 months until SSA makes a determination on the requester's entitlement to reinstated benefits.
