Title: ●Exclusion of Real Property From Resources Considered When Calculating SSI Benefits (3623P) 
Abstract: We propose to modify our regulations to exclude real property from those resources considered when determining Supplemental Security Income (SSI) eligibility when the claimant or recipient intends to use the real property as a future principal place of residence. This notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) will expand our definition of the home to include real property which an SSI claimant or recipient intends to use as a principal place of residence following repairs or renovations necessary to make it habitable or equipped for an aged, blind, or disabled person. This exclusion would require a stipulation that the real property become the claimant or recipient’s principal place of residence within 9 months. If the claimant or recipient also has a current ownership interest in a principal place of residence, we propose to exclude such real property under our resource disposition rules and exclude the future home under the expanded definition of the home. These changes will prevent the loss of benefits for claimants and recipients while making necessary repairs or renovations to a future principal place of residence.
