Title: Combatting Fraud and Similar Fault to Strengthen the Integrity of Social Security
Abstract:

We propose to establish a uniform framework for redetermining an individual’s entitlement to monthly benefits under Title II or eligibility for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments under Title XVI of the Social Security Act when there is reason to believe fraud or similar fault was involved. This proposal will improve our efficiency in taking corrective action to combat fraud and similar fault in the disability process. Additionally, we believe this proposal will improve our Federal court success in redetermination cases and reduce the improper payment of benefits.
