| Title: Revised Medical Criteria for Evaluating Cardiovascular Disorders | |
|
Abstract:
We are revising the criteria in the Listing of Impairments (listings) that we use to evaluate claims involving cardiovascular disorders in adults and children under Titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act. The listings describe those disorders that we consider severe enough to prevent an adult from engaging in any gainful activity, or that cause marked and severe functional limitations for a child claiming Supplemental Security Income payments under Title XVI. The revisions reflect our adjudicative experience, advances in medical knowledge since the last revision in 2006, and comments we received from the public in response to a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). The revisions achieve program simplification, improve customer service to the public, and reduce waste. |
