| Title: Revised OIG Sanction Authorities Resulting From Public Law 105-33 | |
| Abstract: This final rule will revise the OIG's exclusion and civil money penalty (CMP) authorities resulting from the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, Public Law 105-33. This rule will protect and strengthen Medicare and other Federal health care programs by increasing the OIG's anti-fraud and abuse authorities through new or revised exclusion and CMP provisions, including new CMPs (1) against institutional health care providers that employ, or enter into contracts for medical services with, excluded individuals; (2) for failure to report information to the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank; and (3) for health care providers who violate the anti-kickback statute. | |
