| Title: ●Permanent Certification Program for Health Information Technology; Revisions to ONC-AA Processes | |
| Abstract: Under the authority granted to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology by section 3001(c)(5) of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA) as added by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, this rule proposes a process for a potential applicant for ONC-Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) status, or an ONC-ACB seeking to maintain or renew its accreditation, to appeal to the National Coordinator a decision by the ONC-Approved Accreditor (ONC-AA) to deny it accreditation. The National Coordinator is also proposing a process to address instances where the ONC-AA engages in improper conduct and/or does not perform its responsibilities under the permanent certification program. | |
