Title: ●Onshore Oil and Gas Operations--Internet Based Auctions
Abstract:

This procedural rule amends certain provisions of the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) oil and gas regulations to recognize that BLM is now statutorily authorized to use either oral auction or internet-based auction procedures to conduct the quarterly oil and gas lease sales contemplated by the Minerals Leasing Act of 1920, as amended (MLA).  The change made by this rule brings BLM’s regulations into compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2015 which specifically granted BLM the authority to utilize internet-based bidding for its competitive oil and gas lease sales.
