Abstract:
Make conforming changes throughout 43 CFR part 37 to align with the statutory requirements of the Federal Cave Protection Act of 1988 (16 U.S.C. 4301 et seq.) and ensure that DOI bureaus appropriately evaluate caves when making any significant cave designations. DOI’s current regulations include policy statements, a definition of cave resources, and significant cave evaluation criteria that exceed the requirements of the Federal Cave Protection Act. |
