| Title: Deep Gas and Offshore Alaska Provisions | |
| Abstract: This rule implements three new royalty relief incentives specified by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Pub. L. 109-190). The new incentives are: (1) A royalty suspension volume of 35 BCF for gas produced from ultra-deep (20,000 feet or more subsea) reservoirs on shallow water leases in the Gulf of Mexico; (2) extension of at least the existing deep gas incentives plus the new ultra-deep gas incentive to leases in the Gulf located in water depths between 200 and 400 meters of water; and (3) provision of pre-production royalty relief to leases in offshore Alaska when it is necessary to promote development, increased production, or production of marginal resources. | |
