Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Reclassifying the Wood Bison
Abstract: We received a petition to reclassify the wood bison (Bison bison athabascae) in Canada from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. The petition presents substantial scientific and commercial information indicating that reclassification, as petitioned, is warranted under the Act (i.e., 90-day finding). We now initiate a status review of the species. Dependent upon the results of the status review, we may change the classification of the wood bison from endangered to threatened, or we may delist the species.
