Abstract: We propose to designate critical habitat for five endangered freshwater mussels: the fat threeridge (Amblema neislerii), shinyrayed pocketbook (Lampsilis subangulata, recently renamed Hamiota subangulata), Gulf moccasinshell (Medionidus penicillatus), Ochlockonee moccasinshell (Medionidus simpsonianus), and oval pigtoe (Pleurobema pyriforme), and two threatened freshwater mussels: the Chipola slabshell (Elliptio chipolaensis) and purple bankclimber (Elliptoideus sloatianus). These mussels occur in drainages that include the States of Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.
