Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Delisting Sonoran Desert Population of Bald Eagles in Arizona
Abstract: We will submit a final rule to remove the Sonoran Desert population of bald eagles in Arizona from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants. On March 6, 2008, a court enjoined our application of the July 9, 2007 (72 FR 37346), final delisting rule for the Sonoran Desert population of bald eagles, pending the outcome of a status review and 12-month petition finding. The court's order temporarily reinstated the listing of the bald eagle as threatened, but only for the eagles in the Sonoran Desert of central Arizona. Our 12-month finding, in which we have determined that listing the Sonoran Desert population is not warranted, published in the Federal Register on February 25, 2010. The final rule delisting the population will go to the Federal Register shortly.
