| Title: ●Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for Three Southeastern Plant Species (Whorled Sunflower, Gladecress, Short's Bladderpod) | |
| Abstract: Pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended, we are required to designate critical habitat, to the maximum extent prudent and determinable, concurrent with a listing determination for a species. We are developing a listing determination for three candidate plant species, as a separate rulemaking action (see RIN 1018-AZ11). We will make determinations regarding critical habitat for these three plant species--whorled sunflower (Helianthus verticillatus), gladecress (Leavenworthia crassa), and short's bladderpod (Physaria globosa)--pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Short's bladderpod occurs in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Whorled sunflower is known from Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, and the unnamed gladecress is found in Alabama. | |
