Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Threatened Status for the DPS of the North American Wolverine Occurring in the Contiguous United States; Establishment of a NEP in CO, WY, and NM
Abstract:

FWS withdrew its proposed rule to list the distinct population segment (DPS) of the North American wolverine that occurs within the contiguous United States as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, as endangered (ESA). An experimental population of wolverine has been established; for more information, see RIN 1018-AZ22. A listing rule is under RIN 1018-AY26. The North American wolverine is a terrestrial mammal that occurs in a wide variety of alpine, boreal, and arctic habitats. Within the contiguous United States, which constitutes a DPS, wolverine habitat is restricted to high-elevation areas in the West. The species' current distribution includes functioning populations in the North Cascades Mountains and the northern Rocky Mountains, as well as populations that have not yet reestablished in the southern Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada.
