| Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determinations for Five Species in American Samoa (Friendly Ground-Dove et al.) | |
|
Abstract:
On October 13, 2015, we proposed to list the Pacific sheath-tailed bat, the mao, the friendly ground-dove, and two American Samoa land snails as endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. In this final rule, we will make listing determinations for the following species: the Pacific sheath-tailed bat, two birds (the mao and the friendly ground-dove), and two species of American Samoa land snails (Eua zebrina and Ostodes strigatus). We are required to designate critical habitat, to the maximum extent prudent and determinable, concurrent with a listing determination for the species. We will develop a critical habitat designation for the five species as a separate rulemaking action (1018-AZ98). All five species occur in American Samoa. The bat and the mao also occur in Western Polynesia and Melanesia. |
