| Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for the Least Chub and the Goose Creek Milk Vetch | |
| Abstract: FWS will, if determined to be prudent and determinable, designate critical habitat for the least chub and the Goose Creek milk vetch, under the Act. The FWS is required to designate critical habitat, to the maximum extent prudent and determinable, concurrent with a listing determination for a species. FWS will develop a listing determination for the least chub and the Goose Creek milk vetch as a separate rulemaking action (RIN 1018-AY96). The least chub is a small minnow that lives in spring-fed pools. Five wild populations of least chub remain. Three populations are in Snake Valley in Utah's West Desert. They include the Leland Harris Spring Complex, Gandy Salt Marsh, and Bishop Spring Complex. The remaining two wild populations are located on the eastern border of the native range near the Wasatch Front. Those populations in the Mills Valley and Clear Lake are in the Sevier River drainage. The Goose Creek milk vetch is a low-growing perennial plant found only in the Goose Creek drainage of Cassia County, Idaho; Elko County, Nevada; and Box Elder County, Utah. | |
