| Title: Incidental Take of Marine Mammals During Specified Activities; Northern Sea Otters in the Gulf of Alaska | |
|
Abstract:
This proposed rule would authorize the incidental take of small numbers of northern sea otters (Enhydra lutris kenyoni) in the Gulf of Alaska during pile-driving and marine construction activities for 5 years, as requested by the U.S. Coast Guard. The Marine Mammal Protection Act directs the FWS to issue regulations for up to 5 years to allow the incidental, unintentional take of small numbers of marine mammals for specified activities (other than commercial fishing) in specific geographical areas, provided certain findings are made. |
