FWS revised the Lists of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants to reflect the scientifically accepted taxonomy and nomenclature of 25 wildlife species and 37 plant species listed under the Endangered Species Act. (For the Hawaiian hoary bat (Lasiurus cinereus semotus), we received comments relating to scientific research relevant to its taxonomic classification; as a result, on April 24, 2023, we withdrew the amendment in the direct final rule for this species.) These revisions reflect the most recently accepted scientific nomenclature. None of these changes are regulatory in nature; they were made for the purposes of accuracy and clarity. These revisions will not alter species’ protections or status in any way.
