| Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Significant Portion of the Range Analysis for the Northern Distinct Population Segment of the Southern Subspecies of Scarlet Macaw | |
|
Abstract:
FWS reassessed the significant portion of the range analysis for the northern distinct population segment (DPS) of the scarlet macaw subspecies Ara macao macao, which is listed as threatened. We considered how recent case law on the Service’s significant portion of the range policy and the plain language of the Endangered Species Act may have affected our February 26, 2019, final rule designating the northern DPS as a threatened species. On March 30, 2023, the FWS affirmed the 2019 listing of the scarlet macaw subspecies Ara macao macao as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. |
