Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Endangered Species Status for the Antillean Manatee and Threatened Species Status for the Florida Manatee
Abstract:

FWS will make a final determination on our proposal to list the Antillean manatee (Trichechus manatus manatus) as an endangered species and the Florida manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. Both species are subspecies of the West Indian manatee (Trichechus manatus), a marine mammal listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. These marine mammals are found along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf of America coasts, throughout the Caribbean, and as far south as Brazil’s Atlantic coastline.
