Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Endangered Species Status for Eastern Hellbender  
Abstract:

FWS will make a final determination on our proposal to list the eastern hellbender (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis alleganiensis) as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act. This salamander is found in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
