FWS will make a listing determination for the Ozark shiner (Notropis ozarcanus) under the Endangered Species Act. This fish is found in Arkansas and Missouri. If we determine that listing is warranted, we will also propose to designate critical habitat for the species, if prudent and determinable. This species status determination is included in a multi-species settlement agreement where the court requires completion of 12-month findings under section 4 of the Endangered Species Act for 76 species by the end of fiscal year 2029. The court order does not provide specific dates for each species but requires completion of a minimum number of actions in each fiscal year. This action counts toward the minimum required number of 12-month findings to comply with the court's order.
