| Title: Nonimmigrant Alien Waiver (NIA Rule) | |
|
Abstract:
The Department of Justice proposes amending Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) regulations to implement a provision of the Omnibus Consolidated and Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act, 1999, which provides that any individual who has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa may receive a waiver from the firearms disability imposed by 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5) if the Attorney General approves a petition for the waiver. The proposed rule sets forth the conditions that a petitioner must satisfy to be eligible for a waiver. |
