Title: ●Removing Firearm Markings by Manufacturers  
Abstract:

This rule proposes to modify the marking requirements for federal firearms licensees (FFLs) who are licensed manufacturers. The rule proposes to allow licensed manufacturers to remove identifying information previously placed on a firearm and mark the firearm with their own identifying information in accordance with the regulatory requirements. The rule would clarify that a manufacturer would not be in violation of 18 U.S.C. 922(k) when removing the firearm's "importer's or manufacturer's serial number" when done in accordance with the regulation.
