DOL/OSHA RIN: 1218-AD25 Publication ID: Spring 2025
Title: Personal Protective Equipment in Construction
Abstract:

The purpose of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Personal Protective Equipment in Construction rulemaking is to revise its PPE standard for construction to explicitly state that PPE must fit properly to protect workers from workplace hazards. This revision aligned the language in the PPE standard for construction with the corresponding language in OSHA's PPE standards for general industry and shipyards and affirmed OSHA's interpretation of its PPE standard for construction as requiring properly fitting PPE.  The final rule was published on December 12, 2024, with an effective date of January 13, 2025.
