| Title: Testing, Evaluation, and Approval of Electric Motor-Driven Mine Equipment and Accessories | |
|
Abstract:
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has revised 30 CFR part 18 which sets out the testing, evaluation, and approval requirements for electric motor-driven equipment and accessories intended for use in gassy mines. Under this final rule, MSHA will accept voluntary consensus standards (VCS) that are suitable for all gassy mining environments and that provide protection against fire or explosion dangers to replace applicable requirements in 30 CFR part 18. The rule promotes the use of innovative and advanced technologies that will lead to improvements in mine safety and health. |
