DOL/MSHA RIN: 1219-AC01 Publication ID: Spring 2025
Title: Ground Control Plans for Underground Metal and Nonmetal Mines
Abstract:

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) proposes to revise 30 CFR Part 57 Subpart B to require operators of underground metal and nonmetal mines to develop and submit ground control plans for approval.  This proposed rule would prevent roof falls, pillar collapses, and other exposures to ground control hazards, which would improve the safety and health of miners working at metal and nonmetal mines.  MSHA intends to reach out to stakeholders, including mine operators, labor unions, industry trade associations, and the public to ensure broad stakeholder participation in the rulemaking process.
