View Rule

The Department amends the Schedule of Fees for Consular Services (Schedule) for certain passport and domestic authentications processing fees. More specifically, the rule amends the passport execution fee, book application services fee, and security surcharge for passports, and the fees charged to authenticate a document in the United States. The rule renames the administrative processing of formal renunciation of U.S. citizenship fee to apply to administrative processing of Certificates of Loss of Nationality. The Department of State is adjusting the fees in light of the findings of the most recent annual Cost of Service study to ensure that the fees for consular services better align with the costs of providing those services.
