| Title: Revision of the Federal Claims Collection Standards (31 CFR Parts 900-904) | |
|
Abstract:
The Department of Justice jointly with the Department of the Treasury will revise the Federal Claims Collection Standards to address statutory changes and to improve clarity of existing regulations. Justice and Treasury propose to revise the FCCS for several reasons, including to: (a) increase transparency in Federal debt collection; (b) encourage efficiency in agency collection operations; (c) modernize the FCCS; (d) make clarifications based on experience with the existing regulations; (e) eliminate repetitive and unnecessary language and revise certain provisions for clarity, consistent with the requirements of the Plain Writing Act of 2010 and Executive Order 12866; and (f) better organize the FCCS for easier comprehension. |
