Abstract:

The OCC plans to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking to implement the GENIUS Act, 12 U.S.C. 5901 et seq., with respect to entities for which the OCC is authorized to issue regulations or exercise its enforcement authority under the Act.

Overall Description of Deadline: Section 13 of the GENIUS Act provides that "Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of [the GENIUS] Act, each primary Federal payment stablecoin regulator, the Secretary of the Treasury, and each State payment stablecoin regulator shall promulgate regulations to carry out this Act through appropriate notice and comment rulemaking." 12 U.S.C. 5913(a).
