DHS/USCIS RIN: 1615-AB93 Publication ID: Spring 2011
Title: ●Requiring Residents Who Live Outside the United States To File for Alien Relatives According to Form Instructions
Abstract: This rule amends Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations to remove restrictions on where a Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, may be filed, accepted, processed, and approved. This rule provides that Petition for Alien Relative filings will be made based on the filing address(es) provided in the form instructions. References to offices, form numbers, approval authorities, and internal procedures are also removed. This action is being taken to reduce DHS costs to accept and approve filings of a Petition for Alien Relative in international locations, such as consulates and embassies, and to increase the flexibility of DHS in administering this program.
