| Title: ●Waiver of Citizenship Requirements for Crewmembers on Commercial Fishing Vessels | |
| Abstract: The Coast Guard proposes to add to our regulations a description of the procedures for requesting and processing waivers from the citizenship requirements on commercial fishing vessels. Title 46 U.S.C. 8103 provides for relief from the requirement that not more than 25 percent of the total number of unlicensed seamen on a U.S. documented vessel may be aliens lawfully admitted to the United States under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) of 1952. We believe we can improve our efforts to inform the commercial fishing industry of this statutorily provided relief by incorporating our application procedure policy into our regulations. | |
