DOE/EE RIN: 1904-AA86 Publication ID: Fall 2010
Title: Determination for High-Intensity Discharge Lamps
Abstract: The Energy Policy and Conservation Act requires DOE to prescribe test procedures and efficiency standards for high-intensity discharge lamps for which the Secretary makes a determination that energy conservation standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified and would result in significant energy savings.

Additional Information: The Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 2005 (EPACT 2005) prohibits the manufacture of mercury vapor lamp ballasts after January 1, 2008, which will affect the energy savings potential of standards for HID lamps. DOE has concluded that the analysis to determine whether standards are technologically feasible and economically justified must be redone as a result of EPACT 2005.
