DOE/EE RIN: 1904-AC05 Publication ID: Fall 2010
Title: Test Procedures for Electric Motors
Abstract: Section 302 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to require that test procedures for all covered products (including electric motors) be reviewed at least once every seven years. The test procedure for electric motors was originally bundled with the test procedure for small electric motors and the NPRM was published on December 22, 2008 (73 FR 78220). In light of comments received in response to the bundled NPRM, DOE changed its course with the electric motors test procedure. To ensure that the small electric motors test procedure would meet its consent decree deadline, the electric motors test procedure was de-bundled and a Supplemental NPRM for the electric motors test procedures will be issued.
