Consistent with the requirements under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is examining whether to amend the current energy conservation standards for unfired hot water storage tanks (UFHWSTs), a type of commercial equipment, found at 10 CFR 431.110. As a result of this effort, DOE must either propose and adopt more stringent standards or issue a determination that no amendments to the current standards are required. Any rulemaking action will be consistent with the President's direction in Executive Order 14154, Unleashing American Energy, to preserve consumer choice as well as DOE's statutory obligation to preserve appliance features in the market.

Overall Description of Deadline: Subject to 6-year look-back in 42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(C). Further subject to 3-year lookback years after the issuance of a final determination not to amend standards in 42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(C)(iii).
