Title: Occupational Radiation Protection
Abstract: This action would amend 10 CFR part 835, Occupational Radiation Protection, to update appendix D, Surface Contamination Values, to be consistent with the values in DOE's environmental requirements. DOE is also considering replacing the tables of tissue weighting factors and radiation weighting factors with a requirement to use the comparable tables from DOE Guide 441.1-1C, Radiation Protection Programs Guide for Use with title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, part 835, Occupational Radiation Protection. While the tables in the guide are identical to those currently in 10 CFR part 835, this change will expedite any future revisions needed to the two tables. DOE is also considering reducing the annual whole body dose limit from 5 rems per year to 2 rems per year to be consistent with international consensus standards.
