| Title: Withdrawal of Federal Water Quality Guidance for the Great Lakes System for Michigan | |
|
Abstract:
Effective September 5, 2000, EPA specified at 40 CFR 132.6(c) that certain requirements set forth in the Water Quality Guidance for the Great Lakes System (also known as the Great Lakes Initiative rule, or GLI) apply to discharges within the Great Lakes System in the States of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Because these States had not adopted into their State regulations all the GLI Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) Reasonable Potential requirements, these States remain listed in 40 CFR 132.6(c). On September 19, 2005, Michigan submitted to EPA revisions to its State rules that address the GLI WET requirements and requested to be delisted from EPA's regulations at 40 CFR 132.6(c). This action would remove Michigan from the list of States at 132.6(c). EPA is not moving forward with this action at this time due to lack of practical effect on program implementation. |
