Title: Extension of the State Implementation Plan Due Date for the Regional Haze Third Planning Period
Abstract:

The EPA is updating the state implementation plan (SIP) due date for third planning period regional haze SIPs. The Clean Air Act does not mandate a specific date by which states must submit SIPs for each of the regional haze implementation periods. Rather, the EPA established the current SIP due date of July 31, 2028, by regulation when we promulgated the Protection of Visibility: Amendments to Requirements for State Plans Rule (82 FR 3078, January 10, 2017). This is an administrative action with the sole purpose of extending a discretionary SIP due date to allow states adequate time to successfully develop SIPs for the third planning period.
