Abstract:

The final rule, New Source Performance Standards for the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Industry and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Industry and Group I & II Polymers and Resins Industry, was published in the Federal Register on May 16, 2024 (89 FR 42932) and became effective on July 15, 2024. The EPA identified items for reconsideration around its CAA section 112(f)(2) residual risk review authority for the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Industry (SOCMI) NESHAP, more commonly referred to as the Hazardous Organic NESHAP (HON), and for Neoprene Production sources covered in the Group I Polymers and Resins NESHAP, and this action will address those issues.
