| Title: Lead-Based Paint Activities, Training, and Certification: Renovation and Remodeling | |
| Abstract: Under section 402(c)(2) of TSCA title IV, EPA is currently conducting a study of the extent to which persons engaged in renovation and remodeling activities in target housing are exposed to lead in the conduct of such activities or disturb lead and create a lead-based paint hazard. EPA must use the results of this study and consult with interested parties to determine which categories of renovation and remodeling activities require training and certification. EPA must then revise the training and certification regulations originally developed for individuals performing lead-based paint abatement under section 402(c)(a) of TSCA title IV to apply them to the renovation and remodeling categories. If EPA determines that any category does not require certification, EPA must publish an explanation of the basis for that determination. | |
