Title: 1,4-Dioxane; Regulation Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
Abstract:

This rulemaking will address the unreasonable risk of injury to health from 1,4-dioxane. Section 6(a) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) requires that EPA, when it determines in a TSCA risk evaluation that a chemical substance presents unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment, apply one or more requirements under TSCA section 6(a) by rule to the extent necessary so the chemical substance no longer presents unreasonable risk. EPA's final risk evaluation for 1,4-dioxane, describing 1,4-dioxane’s conditions of use and presenting EPA's determination of unreasonable risk, is in docket EPA-HQ-OPPT-2019-0238, with additional information in dockets EPA-HQ-OPPT-2016-0723 and EPA-HQ-OPPT-2022-0905.
