DOT/FAA RIN: 2120-AJ67 Publication ID: Fall 2010
Title: First Officer Qualification Requirements for Part 121 Operations
Abstract: This rulemaking would gather information on whether current eligibility, training, and qualification requirements are adequate for pilots engaged in part 121 and part 135 operations. This action is necessary because recent airline accidents and incidents have brought considerable attention to the experience level and training of air carrier flight crews. The FAA would use the gathered information to determine the necessity of creating new eligibility, training, and qualification regulations for flight crews and the changes the new regulations might include. The FAA has formed an Aviation Rulemaking Committee to review the information and provide recommendations.
