| Title: ●Use of Certain Restricted Category Aircraft for the Transport of Firefighters for Wildfire Suppression | |
|
Abstract:
This advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) seeks comment on a proposal to amend 14 CFR parts 91 and 119 to allow restricted category aircraft to transport firefighters under certain circumstances, thereby aligning FAA regulations with section 360 of the FAA reauthorization Act of 2024. FAA regulations do not currently permit firefighters to be transported aboard restricted category aircraft to perform ground wildfire suppression. This revision, if proposed, would allow certain restricted category aircraft to transport firefighters during wildfire suppression operations. Section 360 also prohibits the rule from allowing surplus military aircraft to be used in the manner described. |
