| Title: ●25 Hour Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) Requirements for Existing Aircraft | |

Abstract:
This rulemaking will prohibit a covered operator from operating a covered aircraft unless such aircraft has a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) installed that retains the last 25 hours of recorded information using a recorder the meets the standards of Technical Standard Order TSO-C123c, or later revision. This prohibition will go into effect on May 16, 2030. For the purpose of this rule, a covered aircraft an aircraft operated by an air carrier under 14 CFR part 121 or a transport category aircraft designed for operations by an air carrier or foreign air carrier type-certificated with a passenger seat capacity of 30 or more or an all-cargo or combi derivative of such an aircraft. For the purpose of this rule, a covered operator means the operator of a covered aircraft. |
