Title: Heavy Vehicle Speed Limiters 
Abstract:

This document informs the public that FMCSA and NHTSA have jointly decided not to pursue two previously published proposed rules related to speed limiter requirements for commercial motor vehicles due to significant policy and safety concerns, data gaps, and other impacts of the proposed rule.  FMCSA and NHTSA therefore withdraw the Agencies’ September 7, 2016, joint Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations: Parts and Accessories Necessary for Safe Operation; Speed Limiting Devices.” FMCSA also withdraws its May 4, 2022, Advance Notice of Supplemental Proposed Rulemaking Parts and Accessories Necessary for Safe Operations: Speed Limiting Devices.
