| Title: ●Petitions for Reconsideration of FMVSS No. 305 Electric-Powered Vehicles; Electrolyte Spillage and Electrical Shock Protection Final Rule | |
| Abstract: This rulemaking would respond to the petitions for reconsideration of the final rule to upgrade the requirements for electrical shock protection and electrical energy storage/conversion system retention. This rulemaking would make minor clarifications to the terms and definitions and would respond to petitions to make minor changes to the energy storage device retention requirements and the test condition state-of-charge. On June 14, 2010, NHTSA published a final rule upgrading Federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 305 to facilitate the development and introduction of fuel cell vehicles, a type of electric-powered vehicle, and the next generation of hybrid and battery electric powered vehicles. The final rule made a number of changes including specifying different isolation resistance requirements for alternating and direct currents. | |
